Engineering Biology Remains Challenging. Unlike other engineering disciplines, Synthetic Biology's design-build-test cycle requires too many rounds of experimentation, wasting time and resources, and deepening the valley of entrepreneurial death. Organisms are shockingly complex; the simplest microbe has more moving parts than a SpaceX rocket. And yet, once we know which organism to build, they are shockingly cheap to mass-produce.
Engineering Biology is a Design Problem. An organism's genetic system tells it what to do, but a genetic system with only 10,000 DNA letters has more thandesign choices (more atoms than in the entire Universe). Selecting the best-possible DNA sequence for a large genetic system is an impossible task, even for an expert with decades of experience. There are too many components, coupled interactions, and competing effects that change from one organism to the next.

Our software platform enables Synthetic Biologists to rationally engineer new organisms with desired functionalities, utilizing our predictive models and design algorithms with an intuitive code-free interface. Under the hood, our models utilize a range of techniques (thermodynamics, kinetics, machine learning) that are combined together using advanced multi-objective optimization.

De Novo DNA eliminates uncertainty by designing genetic system sequences that achieve your target expression levels, while removing problematic & confounding sequences that disrupt your experiments. De Novo DNA also optimizes your genetic system performance by designing a small number of variants that search a large function space. And if the best target expression levels aren't known yet, De Novo DNA will help you find them in a single design-build-test cycle.
